One of the dark-horse best albums of 2010 is a nifty little four-song EP by Philadelphia psych-pop songwriter Kurt Vile. It’s called Square Shells, and it’s the most accessible work of his career, with an added bit of care taken on the production and, seemingly, the playing. The melodies are top-notch, and it’s every bit as stylish and current-sounding as his more lo-fi stuff. We hear it’s a sign of things to come too, with a full-length scheduled for release in ‘11. Get excited.
