If you want to make sure your new record sells reasonably well in a particular city, there are probably worse things you can do than play a series of in-store shows at the city’s best-known record stores. Today, to mark the release of Smoke Ring for My Halo, Kurt Vile will bring his sun-baked, hazy country-rock to Academy Records (5pm), Generation Records (7pm) and Other Music (9pm).
