M. Pravat and Heeseop Yoon: Linear Obscurity

Tuesdays-Saturdays. Continues through March 19 2010

Both artists, New Delhi-based Pravat and New York-based Yoon, seem like they’re trying to draw plans for slightly outlandish buildings, but can’t quite focus their aesthetic and make it happen. In Pravat’s case, hard and once-legible blueprints are overwhelmed by non-sense systems of lines, paints and various mixed media. In Yoon’s epic, engrossing messes of pen, tape or paint, we can almost guess outlines of buildings or rooms, but our eyes are quickly drawn to the levels infinite detail, the elaborate network of lines and overlapping images that, however intriguing, never quite stabilize into a clear image.
