Both painters work in an abstract style using mixed media, but their idiosyncratic styles couldn't be more different. Mastroianni works in a ghostly, weathered aesthetic of ashes, burns, tints and scrapes, playing with depth, perspective and approaching figuration. Begneaud, meanwhile, creates flat, bright monochromes that foreground texture and patterns.
