We worry that artists who have solo shows too frequently might stretch themselves thin, but when we came across Maya Bloch's show last spring we demanded more of her beautifully eerie acrylic portraits. The Tel Aviv-based painter's pieces got even better in the last eight months, with more vibrant tones tucked into the liquified areas of color that spill across foreground figures. She's also incorporated hard geometric backdrops that accentuate the fluidity of her sublime subjects.
