Mikal Cronin

Thu., July 18, 5:30 p.m. 2013; FREE w/ museum admission

Cronin’s name might not be as familiar as his longtime collaborator buddy Ty Segall’s, but that’s slowly, surely starting to change as his jam-packed show last month at Bowery Ballroom can attest. Tonight he’ll take his warm, deceptively serious garage-rock songs and place them in context of modern art, as part of MoMA Nights, the museum’s free summer music series. Turning inner turmoil into something else entirely—effervescent pop, in Cronin’s case—seems to be the unspoken theme here.
