Three artists — Jana Leo, Hannah Wilke and the duo of Bob Flanagan and Sheree Rose — excavate periods of personal trauma and difficulty (terminal illnesses and sexual assault) to recreate and excise very subjective experiences of intense pain. The exhibition plays on its title’s double (or triple) entendre as a possession to which one clings, an explosive device concealed just below the surface, and the process of unearthing things long buried.
