The multipurpose art-music-miscellaneous-DIY-project space Monster Island will be bulldozed to the ground in November for reasons still not clear to those of us not part of the inside loop. Its impending death sucks, for obvious reasons, but at least we get one last, free, all-day block party — the Monster Island collective’s eighth — to properly say goodbye. Consider it more of a celebration of the creative endeavors its housed than an eulogy, with performances from Monster Island's quote-unquote house bands Oneida, Golden Triangle and others, as well as art and video installations, open studios, a BBQ and more. Cue Semisonic's "Closing Time."
