"Living Is So Easy," the lead single from British Sea Power's Valhalla Dancehall, is a smooth, approachable, electronically driven song that sees the band distancing itself from the U2 comparisons that have dogged them their whole career. It sounds like finally, four records into their career, they took a step back and started anew, only adding elements as they specifically asked to be added. The rest of the album, though, is back to business as usual, as they return to the basic framework they've worked in since day one: long, slow builds, gently exhaling climaxes and a focus on overall feel rather than individual moments. It's hard to imagine this album winning British Sea Power too many new fans. It's easier, though, to imagine it being the last straw for old ones who'd been hoping for a change.
