In the largest of the several new large paintings by the (East) German neo-figurative surrealist Rauch, a man and woman sit at the edge of a scorched field under floating, fiery twigs. She wears Doc Martens, a red skirt and overcoat while observing a large owl propped on her leg (this figure is the subject of the show's only sculpture, a rarity for Rauch), he sports some sort of military uniform while holding up the disembodied head of another owl for close inspection. In the corner, two gloves fight over a paintbrush. Typical Rauch, basically, and that's why it's worth seeing.
