The L Mag music team is split three ways when it comes to No Age, the drum-guitar duo synonymous with L.A.’s DIY scene. One of us finds them frustratingly nerdy, acting as though they don’t belong playing a Bowery venue despite garnering critical praise at practically every move (the age restriction at MHOW tonight has been lowered to 16+, btw). One of us feels that the obscuring fuzz and deliberately shoddy production of their new album, Everything in Between, is indicative of all the trends currently plaguing indie rock. And one of us thinks that they are making some of the most meaty, addictive, energy-fueled music of the year. Find out who’s right tonight.
