Ethan Coen’s short plays about office politics and political offices – one concerns an anal retentive Homeland Security suit – remind of mediocre Dilbert strips and the worst sections of Burn After Reading. With inumerable narratives probing the minutiae of office interactions (The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, etc.), it’s hard to imagine what new territory Coen hopes to discover. Though some inspired acting and a nifty set keep the entertaining punch line-driven play moving, Offices doesn’t seem to know where it’s going. – Benjamin Sutton
