We’ve seen Okkervil River a million times over the years, but never quite like we saw them at SXSW a few months ago. Led, of course, by singer/guitarist Will Sheff, they seem more assured than ever and more determined to get the audience on their side than ever, too. It worked well — Sheff has become one of indie rock’s hardest-working frontmen, selling the lines that need to be sold and just generally relishing the whole experience. It’s their first area show since the release of the very good I Am Very Far and joining them on the bill is Titus Andronicus, who you’ve been reading about in these pages for a very long time. This is a big one. Do not miss.
