Taking their cues and exhibition title from an essay by William Hazlitt, the artists in this show relish the inherent joys and pleasures of expressing anger and hatred through their work. Whether in Josh Fraught’s DIY assemblages, Simone Leigh’s uncanny and creepy sculptures, Mike Quinn’s violent frameworks, Nicholas Lobo’s ominous monuments or the dark imagery of several other artists, hatred takes on alluring forms.
