Aaron K is a Brooklyn-based artist who creates large-scale digital work on canvas and web promoting his rotating party TOP 8 (visit top8friends.tumblr.com for all the fun posters). He designed our Fall Arts Preview cover with Ryan Trecartin and Corey Arcangel in mind, balancing obsession with, and mockery of, internet imagery. So meta.
What other creations (music, film, or visual) inform your work?
Everything, all of them. All the fantasies: I love Walt Disney and Britney Spears and I wish Tibet was free.
Are you classically trained (i.e. art college) or are you just winging it?
Like an angel.
What do you think the world would look like if you had aesthetic control over everything?
Voss Monster water, flavored air, INFINITE bandwidth, weather control, no walls; just windows, doors and lots of synergy. Government-funded Fung Shui; everyone gets a straight razor shave (or laser shave), I-dosers and spirit pills to get you through the tough times.
When you're not busy making art/designs/flyers what are you doing?
TV trance.
