R. Stevie Moore, Gary Wilson

Sat., Jan. 25, 8 p.m. 2014; $12

It’s pretty tragic that the amplifying power of the Internet was withheld from a songwriter as genuinely unusual as Gary Wilson, whose 70s records only gained attention when future generations of weirdos loudly proclaimed their greatness. That goes double for kindred spirit R. Stevie Moore, a lo-fi lifer who’s been making pop albums since the 60s (and, being the spawn of a guy who played with Elvis, was genetically destined to do so). Though Moore's cult influence has never come within miles of general awareness, the combination of prolificacy and tenure has made a mark. Just the idea of these dudes persisting, playing together in 2014, is 100 percent charming.
