Rough Magic

Thursdays-Saturdays. Continues through Jan. 21 2011; $18
It’s not your man Bill Shakespeare’s Tempest; nor even Spider-Man serial-squasher Julie Taymor’s feminist re-imagining thereof. Rather, Festival of Fools sets the drama about a deposed duke using magic to regain his title and some semblance of a life for his daughter in present-day Manhattan, where Prospero prepares to unleash the full force of his sorcery, lest a super-powered quartet save the city. It’s Shakespeare with superheroes, basically.
