Russo-American radio retro-futurism: that’s the most concise phrase we can come up with to describe Brooklyn trio the Mad Ones’ alternate sci-fi history of a world in which the Soviets rule after a massive robot invasion, and our three heroes are radio play broadcasters recounting melodramatic tales of love set in picturesque Midwestern towns in the 50s. The string of cribbed narratives hangs together thanks to a latticework of vintage country music, Soviet science and rousing robot-related asides.
