Have you seen those photos—they seem to be in every other coffee shop—of natural history museum's brightly lit window displays with visitors' silhouettes in the foreground, and for a second you can't tell if that lion is about to eat that little girl or what? Shanna Maurizi's photos, though taken in the same institutions, play more complex tricks on our eyes: by cutting, collaging and erasing, she creates sci-fi-like juxtapositions.
