It’s not just that Shellshag has gotten better over the years (they were always good), because they have; it’s that they’ve learned to appreciate and highlight the pop hooks that were previously buried in their minimalist pop songs. In other words, they’re a Don Giovanni band through and through. The same goes for Hilly Eye, featuring former-Titus Andronicus guitarist/renaissance woman Amy Klein.
