In this series of new portraits, the Dutch artist portrays the predominantly female residents of a working class housing project in Amsterdam who take night classes at a local community center. The stories that go with each image tell of epic (expensive) voyages from the homeland, degrees and careers squandered, and dreams squashed. The most recent apply this social practice to similar stories on the Lower East Side.
