With drafting and construction materials only getting cheaper and greener, projects such as these 11 buildings on five continents designed and created to respond to highly localized needs are only becoming easier to undertake. Still, there's a persistent lack of well-conceived and sensitively carried-out humanitarian architectures of a caliber comparable to the projects shown here, which include a school in Bangladesh, a housing project in Paris, and virtually all points in between.
