Soft Landing

Wed., Feb. 9, 8 p.m. 2011

When naming Soft Landing's debut album one of "The Eight Best Brooklyn Records You Probably Didn't Hear" last year, we pointed out that on "Mic Check," frontman (and Beirut bassist) Paul Collins sings, "Don't you know that this love's not real," drawing out "real" for, literally, 10 seconds. He's clearly putting his heart into it, but Soft Landing doesn't come across as overwrought or fussy. Their music is precocious and fun, which just happens to be the perfect medicine for a wintery, Wednesday night.
