In his inimitable, often visually arresting style, De Luigi travels the world on thematic journeys, seeing how the same issues and phenomena play out in different places. This new, recently published series looks at blindness as it’s treated, dealt with and experienced by communities from Nigeria and Uganda to Vietnam and Thailand. Looking on people who are incapable of returning our gaze has the uncanny effect of accentuating feelings of voyeurism that often come with this sort of project, and De Luigi accentuates that discomfort by shooting his subjects in often uncomfortable moments.
