We will not front: We have always had mixed feelings about Sufjan Stevens. We recognize that, when he wants to, dude can write a hook like no one else. The problem is, he rarely seems to want to, as he's always been far too content to craft loose concepts for albums (or series of albums he'll never stick to) and elaborate stage shows that ultimately take away from the music. But all that said, those instances when he decides to buckle down and write a melody? Sheesh. So good
