Before they got together and added an ampersand between their names, Thao and Mirah had been independently successful (and very different) singer-songwriters. Mirah had been acclaimed for her delicate and cerebral vocals, while Thao was used to gunning her way through heartier, coarser and twangier pop. But together, and with a little production help from tUnE-yArDs' Merrill Garbus, the two came out with their self-titled album in April of this year, and the result highlighted the strengths of both. Keep it coming, sisters!
