It stands for “North of Madison Square Park,” and refers to the odd area between Madison and Sixth Avenues in the upper twenties that is still ruled by fake purse salesmen, but where the recently opened Ace Hotel and a slew of new condo projects are expected to bring New York’s nomadic scenesters to settle in the region.
