Few bands in history have made indie-pop with the relaxed grace and boundless enthusiasm of New Zealand’s The Clean. The band’s Flying Nun EPs and singles from the early 80s are as good as it gets, and, as 2009’s Mister Pop proved, they still know their way around a good tune. Also playing are Columbus, Ohio’s Times New Viking, who still bury the Clean-indebted catchiness of their songs in roughly screeching feedback, even if last year’s Dancer Equired is as clean-cut as they’d ever sounded.
