NME faves the Joy Formidable was offering a free holiday download called "My Beerdrunk Soul Is Sadder Than a Hundred Dead Christmas Trees." Not an upper per se, but it's easy to see the bright side of the situation: They plow through a wall of noise on par with the Jesus and Mary Chain without ever losing track of the melody. If you're a fan of the Raveonettes' last two albums, here's your new favorite band.
