You know, just the other day we were like, "It's been too long since we've heard a good story about the creation of the world." Leave it to two members of The National to team up with visual artist Matthew Ritchie to mastermind a music-art mashup mythicizing the beginning of time. The trio's Maya-inflected vision is fleshed out by guest vocalists Matt Berninger (The National), Kim and Kelley Deal (The Pixies/The Breeders), Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) and a 12-piece orchestra. And on the seventh day, they wrote "Fake Empire," and it was good.
