Norman Corwin’s new play revisits the historic 1858 debates between mighty Abraham and the diminutive dynamo Stephen Douglas, and the public’s fascinations and hysteria over their dueling intellects. Addressing questions that still define the boundaries of our contemporary political arena, the two orators’ meets were the stuff of national obsession, obvious precursors to the Super Bowl and Lost.
