The Soft Moon, Cosmetics, Black Marble

Thu., May 31, 9 p.m. 2012; $13
212–260–4700

The Soft Moon captivated the year 2010 with their debut—a dark, crisp, otherworldly vision narrated by chugging bass lines, ethereal croons and spacey synth. After the release of a 2011 EP, Total Decay, the San Francisco post-punk cadets have been hard at work on their second full-length, Zeros, to be released this fall on Captured Tracks. Soft Moon shows are known for their hypnotic, at times dynamically explosive performances and, in that sense, not dissimilar from notoriously loud peers and fellow Bay inhabitants Weekend. An unmissable show, but be sure to bring the earplugs.
