The Taqwacores, a Xerox-copied novel about fictional punk rock kids living in Buffalo, NY, spurred an entire subculture, inspiring photojournalist Kim Badawi to capture these so-called "Taqwacores" kids on film. Tonight marks the launch of his book, The Taqwacores: Muslim Punk in the USA, and accompanying exhibition (9/10-10/25); Boston-based Taqwacore band the Kominas perform.
