On their buzzed-about mixtape, Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya and DJ duo Radioclit took Western indie hits — M.I.A., the Ruby Suns and Vampire Weekend all got the treatment — mashed them up, added vocals, and completed their crossover into world-music territory. The trio, working under the name the Very Best, is doing just a scattering of North American appearances leading up to their first actual release, and you should aim to see them after Built to Spill and before Oxford Collapse.
