Leeds pop group The Wedding Present were formed in 1985 by songwriter David Gedge. They built their name on cheeky, chiming singles (and a notable John Peel Session) for a few years before recording their debut album George Best in 1987. The band only ever went away briefly and put out their eighth album just last year. But indie-pop in the C86 style never got much better than that first record, and luckily they’ve agreed to play all of it.
