The Summer 1968, Race Riots, Garbage Strikes...
Pivoting around the summer-long Ocean Hill-Brownsville teachers strike (which catalyzed decades of Jewish/Black enmity), Mayor John Lindsay had a bad summer: as mountains of garbage burned around him and both the FDNY and NYPD threatened job actions, he had to deploy police snipers for protection at a June rally. Just like Bloomberg!
