This historical exhibition explores the role of the tipi as the key to social, cultural, religious and creative life in societies of the Northern, Central, and Southern Plains. In addition to three full-size tents erected inside the Brooklyn Museum there will be 160 objects and artifacts from the museum's permanent collection organized thematically to highlight the roles of women (as owners and builders of tipis), men (as, you know, hunters), and children.
