tUnE-YaRdS is what happens when you cross Animal Collective with Micachu in a bedroom project, which is to say that solo member Merrill Garbus is one weird chick (lyrical proof: "I've got news for you honey, I got pregnant with birds that sing prettier than you"). But we mean that in the nicest way possible. With just one set of hands/feet/vocal chords to work with, Garbus makes heavy use of loops, spitting out disjointed hooks against everything from marching band taps to zigzagged bird calls. She's popped up on lots of people's radar in 2009, notably for her commanding stage presence at shows. In conclusion: She's awesome.
