When we randomly caught these guys towards the end of SXSW this spring, we were tired. Our feet hurt. We had reached the point where we were mostly concerned with finding the perfect taco. Then a clan looking like devout NPR followers started pumping a Decemberists-meets-Neutral Milk Hotel strain of indie rock into the atmosphere and we perked the fuck up. Typhoon is a 12-piece orchestra that sounds like all 12 people are pulling their weight, including mirroring drummers who, if ether were to fall the tiniest bit off, would mess up an entire song. Neither one did.
