Veronica Falls’ new record, Waiting for Something to Happen, is a more assured and harmonically confident version of their not-quite-as-twee-as-you-think indie pop. It’s better crafted and produced than the UK band’s really good self-titled album from 2011, but all the cleaning up made it a little less distinctive, maybe? It seems like there’s less excitement around it? It’s weird when that happens, right? Anyway, they work up to a sinister garage band lather live, and that’s always pretty exciting.
