Seminal Downtown experimental theater company The Wooster Group adapts Tennessee Williams' most auto-biographic play about a poor, struggling gay writer with a fast-worsening cataract, slowly learning the still-sadder stories of his neighbors in a dilapidated New Orleans boarding house. The minor role of a photographer living downstairs has been expanded somewhat, so that much of the performance is spoken into cameras and seen on screens.
