The Ref. That's the one where Dennis Leary takes Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis hostage, and the two of them are quarreling all the time. It's real interesting. [Your favorite holiday movie is a hostage movie?] Well, when you said holiday it's the first thing that came to mind. I like it because it's actionable and not phony. It's not like I watch it as a tradition, though. The only movie I do that for is the Charlie Brown Christmas special. It really reminds me of my childhood.

Elf and It's a Wonderful Life. I like Elf better. Will Ferrell, c'mon, hilarious. But of course you gotta pretend you like It's A Wonderful Life better. Whatever, they're all terrible. C'mon! They're Christmas movies!

Every year my family would watch a movie the kids all loved. We waited all year to see this movie. It was called Kevin in New York. [Is that a Polish movie?] No, American! Very popular. Kevin Alone, I think it was called here. Kevin Alone! You know this movie. Kevin Alone in New York maybe? [Home Alone?] Yes! Great movie.

I watched The Dark Crystal every year for like five years. And it's not a Christmas movie, and it's not a musical. And it's not funny. But it's really good. It was my favorite Christmas tradition. Hard to beat 1981 Jim Henson, I'm telling you.
