Williamsburg2000

Fridays-Sundays. Continues through April 17 2011

In case you were wondering about Williamsburg's status as a community of artists, here's a historical survey of the area's art scene that pinpoints the years between 1997 and 2002 as its richest. Larry Walczak, of former North 7th Street space eyewash, curates this group show of formerly local (now mostly Bushwick-based) artists, many of whom take their former 'hood as subject—especially Ward Shelley, whose obsessive print "Williamsburg Timeline" places all the surrounding works in contextual relation.
