Calgary-based quartet Women had their breakout moment at CMJ two years ago, thanks to a debut record full of infectious, vintage indie rock. We sort of forgot about them after that, though this summer their drummer started a band of his own that was quite good. Now they’re back with a new album, coincidentally on the brink of another CMJ; no coincidence that it’s another stellar work, albeit more twisted and dark, from a group of underrated Canadians. We promise not to forget about them again.
