Would You Support a Third Party Candidate for President?

I’ve voted for third party candidates before. I voted for Perot—that was before your time—and for Nader in 2000. I thought I was making a protest vote, that fucking backfired. Since then I play it safe, vote for the Democrat. I’d vote for one again if I liked the candidate more than the others. Not like that will be hard in 2012.

I can’t vote in this country, and I don’t know how people can call this a fair democracy. There’s only one person people say could be a good third-party candidate: Bloomberg. But what’s the point of that? The only reason they say he could win is because he’s rich enough to compete with the others. But all we get is rich people running for election. Everyone in Congress is a millionaire. This country won’t stop being fucked until a poor person can get elected, someone who knows what it is like down here.

No. What’s the point? The two parties have this country in a headlock, no third party candidate could ever come close to winning. It’d be a waste of a vote. At the same time, it isn’t as though elections turn on single votes, so I guess it’s always a waste. As you might be able to tell, I was an economics major. Now, thanks to our last president, I’m driving a goddamn cab.
