Zola Jesus, Xanopticon

Tue., Oct. 18, 7:30 p.m. 2011; SOLD OUT

Nika Danilova has a voice made to fill large rooms but should be positively overwhelming to hear up-close in this relatively snug one. Conatus, her brand-new record, is perfect for the sudden shift to sweater weather. It’s goth and dramatic, but also uplifting—an epic rebuke to the forces of crippling seasonal depression. She’s supported here by Pittsburg “breakcore” producer Xanopticon, who we honestly aren’t super familiar with, but are more than reasonably confident won’t sound like misremembered 90s R&B. This isn't a CMJ show, mind you, but your badge probably wouldn't have been able to get you in anyway.
