Summer Preview: Outdoor Movies

It’s pretty sweet that DVR and TiVo let us get out of our houses now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a glowing screen to stare at outside. Summer movie screenings in New York provide many free opportunities to maintain that coma-chic look and attitude even though you’re out and about. See you Tuesday night!

The L Magazine presents SummerScreen, McCarren Park Pool

Tuesday nights at 7pm, July 3 to August 21
We all know you’re not getting’ enough pool going on Sundays alone. Also, we will be showing the never-shown Ladies and Gentleman, The Fabulous Stains —we are told that it’s kind of a big deal and might have something to do with the 80s.

Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, Lawn @ Bryant Park

Monday nights at dusk (ooh!) June 18 to August 20
Expect a lot of classics to grace this 20 feet tall and 40 feet wide screen in the middle of Manhattan. A good summer replacement for Jack Bauer on your 17-inch.
Begins with Annie Hall (6/18), ends with Psycho (8/20).

Outdoor Cinema 2007 Socrates Sculpture Park

Wednesday nights at 7pm July 11 to August 29
A free annual festival that celebrates international film, music, dance, and food. With a different culture being honored each night you can see first hand how diverse Queens really is and that it’s not just Greek people.

The pictures on the website look pretty, and we’ve definitely spotted an old-timey popcorn popper.  And did we mention the mood music? There’s mood music.
