Good and bad news today in the rap world, which almost means that on balance everything is okay, almost. HipHopDX reports that Shyne (at left)—remember Shyne?—gets out of jail today after serving an 8-year prison sentence on P. Diddy’s behalf following a nightclub shooting. Hopefully Diddy will be paying Shyne millions for the rest of his life. (Maybe Mase will sing “Welcome Back” to him…)
Wu-Tang member Method Man (at right) has been arrested for failing to pay taxes. CNN reports that Meth owes $33,000 in back taxes from 2004-2007, which, come on! Hire an accountant or something, dude. So that’s one okay rapper back in the game, and one wildly uneven but occasionally stellar rapper out of the game (no word yet on how long Meth will be tied up in legal issues over this).
