Artinfo reports that last night Philadelphia’s Tyler School of Art at Temple University handed out its inaugural Wolgin Prize—a $150,000 award given to emerging artists who challenge the boundaries and conventions of contemporary art—to Ryan Trecartin. You may remember him from his spectacularly disjointed, multi-video and multi-room installation that, by most accounts, won the New Musem’s Younger Than Jesus biennial. At 28, Trecartin is well on his way to being one of the leading forces in contemporary art—he’s a shoe-in to take New Artist of the Year at next week’s Guggenheim Art Awards—and that 150 grand should go a long way to financing more of his madly mashed-up chatroom-gender-performance-viral-video-art-adventures, like his most recent, K-CoreaINC.K (section a):
