I didn’t live-blog the Country Music Awards last night, and in fact I didn’t even watch them. I considered it for about three seconds, but then I remembered it was Veteran’s Day, and that there was a very good chance of every single person who walked onstage saying some bullshit about our “troops” and what it really means to be an American, all while attending a ceremony to honor a bunch of performers whose non-stop pandering to the genre’s politically conservative and very religious base continues to play a huge part in the slowing down of social progress.
But Taylor Swift won performer of the year! And she performed “Fifteen” on a guitar that has her name written across the fretboard, which you only get to have when you’re really, really famous.
And by the same logic, Kirk Gibson would have his name on a guitar because he’s really famous?
